Cleaning, servicing and testing commercial catering equipment at our York facility to extend equipment life, reduce replacement cost and prevent usable items being sent to landfill.
Clean, Service & Test
YCE’s Clean, Service and Test facility in York gives clients a practical route for making the most of current equipment during projects, refurbishments and estate changes. Rather than automatically replacing everything, we assess what can be cleaned, serviced, tested and safely reused.
This helps reduce project cost, support sustainability targets and prevent usable commercial catering equipment being sent to landfill. Where an item is no longer right for the operation, we will recommend replacement; where it can be given a useful second life, we prepare it properly.

Key considerations
We review the equipment already on the project and decide what is worth cleaning, servicing, testing and reusing. The assessment considers condition, age, safety, suitability, access to parts and how the item will fit into the new scheme.
Each item is recorded with its proposed route: clean, service, test, repair, store, reuse or replace. This gives the client a clear picture before budget is committed and avoids simply treating every existing asset as waste.
Suitable equipment is brought into our York facility for cleaning, servicing and testing. The team prepares it for reinstallation, redeployment or storage so it can return to site in a reliable and presentable condition.
By extending the life of usable equipment, YCE helps reduce unnecessary spend and avoid sending valuable commercial catering equipment to landfill. We can then support the equipment through servicing, maintenance and future project planning.
Further detail
Commercial catering equipment is a major investment. On many projects there will be existing items that still have usable life if they are inspected, cleaned, serviced and tested properly.
This approach is useful for schools, care homes, hospitality refurbishments and multi-site estates where equipment may be moved between locations or reintroduced after a project phase. It also gives operators a more responsible option than stripping out and discarding equipment that could still perform reliably.
Reuse within projects
On refurbishments and replacement schemes, there is often equipment already on site that still has value. YCE can help separate the items that should be reused from the items that should be replaced, giving the client a clearer budget and a more sustainable project route.
Where appropriate, equipment can be removed, cleaned, serviced, tested and returned to the project. This helps clients make the best from current equipment while reducing unnecessary purchasing and preventing usable commercial catering equipment from being sent to landfill.
